Discovering Future Technology initiative
Together with more than 120 partners from science, society, industry and the media, we are gathering ideas and initiating dialogue on technology across all areas of society and all age groups.
The world’s population is growing, the climate is changing, raw material consumption is increasing and resources are becoming scarcer. Only responsible and well-trained people will be able to master these global challenges. This is particularly true of our country, whose future depends strongly on knowledge and technology. However, only one third of young Germans are interested in how technical things work. Fewer than one in ten of those completing their higher school-leaving certificate begin engineering apprenticeships. More than 20,000 engineering positions remain vacant because there are not enough young people to fill them.
To ensure that Germany remains a country of innovations, ThyssenKrupp launched the “Discovering Future Technology” initiative – an open platform for partners from government, science, society, industry and the media aimed primarily at young people – the thinkers and “engineers of tomorrow” – because this is their opportunity to shape the future. Together with our partners, we want to prove that technology can be fun and offer food for thought.
