Mechanical Components

The Mechanical Components business unit brings together component manufacturers with world-leading market positions. The range of products includes camshafts and crankshafts, precision forgings and castings as well as large-diameter bearings and rings which are indispensable in solar and wind energy systems, tunnel driving machinery and offshore equipment, industrial robots and magnetic resonance tomography. Rounding off the spectrum of products are undercarriages for earthmoving machinery such as excavators and bulldozers.

Automotive Solutions develops innovative solutions to meet the exacting requirements of the automobile industry. Products and services range from steering and damping systems to the entire body technology process chain, innovative systems solutions for chassis applications to assembly equipment for the auto industry. Plant Technology

The Plant Technology business unit covers activities in specialty/large-scale plant construction, in particular (petro)chemical complexes, cement plants, conveyor and coking technology. In chemical and related plant construction we are international technology pacemakers in the markets for fertilizer, electrolysis, gas, coking, polymer, refinery and pharmaceutical complexes. Other areas of emphasis are cement production plant and machinery including the downstream services. ThyssenKrupp Fördertechnik is an operating group within this business unit widely involved in the building of mining, processing and materials handling systems and plants worldwide.

Marine Systems

ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems regards itself as a systems supplier commanding a strong position in the market for naval vessels. The shipyard group unites the core capabilities of German naval shipbuilding in terms of conventional submarines and frigate and corvette type surface vessels. ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems aims to further sharpen its worldwide leading technological edge in these areas. In the market for naval surface craft, the Group with its MEKO technology plays a worldwide lead role in frigates and corvettes besides enjoying market supremacy in nonnuclear submarine construction. ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems also possesses vast competence in nonnaval shipbuilding such as megayachts. The business unit is also successful in the conversion and repair of all kinds of ships.

Transrapid

Attention in the Transrapid business unit is focused on the construction of a German line. A project is currently being pursued to build a 37 kilometer maglev link between Munich central station and the city’s Franz-Josef-Strauss airport. In addition, strategic alliances are to be formed to develop new markets.
