The very essence of service

The Services segment rigorously focuses on providing materials and industrial services as well as commodities for the producing and manufacturing sectors. Alongside the distribution and sale of rolled and stainless steel, pipes/tubes, nonferrous metals, and plastics, this segment also furnishes services reaching from value-adding processing and logistics via warehousing and inventory management to complete supply chain management. Industrial services include besides complex maintenance work, a variety of in-production services such as in-plant logistics, preassembly/kitting, and just-in-sequence supply for production companies. Added to this: worldwide supply of metallurgical commodities plus innovative engineering systems in the areas of rail and civil engineering equipment.

Higher-grade production materials "just-in-time"

Services already commands a premium position in the market for higher-grade production materials. The aim is to achieve a significant increase in the services side of this business through even more efficient value-adding processing, warehousing, and logistics solutions. In addition, business with customers and suppliers is being more closely networked. ThyssenKrupp Services is one of the world's biggest and foremost suppliers of stainless steel, nonferrous metals, and plastics. In its sourcing, the Segment is independent of any specific producers. The local products and services range covers almost all kinds of production materials, in Germany alone some 125,000 items ex-warehouse which are given added value through such processing operations as slitting, cutting-to-length, sawing, flame-cutting, milling, boring, grinding, conserving and coating. Where required, the respective branch delivers just-in-time. In the United States, Services is among the leading suppliers of integrated materials services.

Industrial services

An essential aspect of Services is the provision of a broad spectrum of industrial services: maintenance and upkeep, assembly and workshop services, in-plant logistics, scaffolding services, surface treatment such as insulation and corrosion protection. Services takes over such functions as planning, installation, operation, and maintenance in all areas. The services are supplied to the customer from a single source, thus facilitating the customer trend to focus on core business and reassign other marginal tasks to a services provider. In the case of industrial services, Services enjoys foremost positions.

Special Products

In our Special Products business unit, the combination of project management expertise, international ties, specialized knowledge of markets, and systems services is the characteristic hallmark. With a smoothly functioning network of our own companies, branches and agencies, we guarantee a global presence on all five continents. Special Products encompasses primarily worldwide trading in rolled steel and pipes/tubes as well as in new and used industrial plant and equipment. The second key area covered by this unit is systems business in rail, civil, and harbor engineering, comprising consultancy and planning services, provision of the relevant equipment, and customer and aftermarket parts service. Trading in metals, alloys, minerals, technical gases and coke, is the third mainstay. Here, too, we are among the world leaders.
