Born in 1948, studied biology and chemistry at Saarbrücken University and metallurgy at Aachen College of Technology (RWTH), gained doctor's degree in 1978 from Aachen College of Technology.
Career:
From 1977 to 1994 Dr.-Ing. Wolfram Mörsdorf performed a variety of duties at the Saint Gobain Pont á Mousson group. From 1977 he worked for Halbergerhütte GmbH, Saarbrücken, from 1985 for Luitpoldhütte AG, Amberg, ultimately as chairman of the executive board, and from 1989 for Halberg-Guß GmbH, Saarbrücken, ultimately as chairman of the management board.
In October 1994 Dr. Mörsdorf moved to the Thyssen Group where he was member of the Executive Board of Thyssen Guss AG, Essen, until 1998. From 1998 he was member of the Management Board of Thyssen Umformtechnik + Guss GmbH, Bochum.
Effective October 1, 2001 Dr. Mörsdorf was appointed member of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG and was also Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of ThyssenKrupp Budd Company, Troy/USA.
Since April 2004 he has been a member of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp AG, Düsseldorf. In addition he was appointed Executive Board Chairman of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG. Following the merger of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG with ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG, Dr. Mörsdorf was appointed Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG effective October 1, 2006.
