Exclusive TWIN elevator system

The TWIN is the first elevator system to have two cabs running independently one above the other in the same shaft. This technology has many advantages over conventional elevator systems, including the fact that waiting and travel times are reduced to a minimum – thanks in part to the use of an intelligent destination selection control system. In addition, the higher capacity allows the number of shafts needed to be reduced by up to a third, freeing up additional useful space in the building across all floors.

Innovations for the benefit of the environment

he environmental performance of products and production processes has been a top priority for many years. With its "sustainable efficiency" program, the Elevator Technology Business Area is now going a key step further. The central aim: To establish topics such as environmental protection and social responsibility as fixed elements of the corporate culture in order to bring human and environmental needs into balance with business interests. Significant energy and CO2 savings are targeted throughout the sustainability cycle of the entire product range – from material selection to manufacturing to operation, service and recycling.

An outstanding example of eco-friendly innovations in use is provided by the passenger elevators at the new Deutsche Börse headquarters in Eschborn near Frankfurt/Main. In keeping with the ecological design of the building, most of the elevators are fitted with regenerative drives. Energy generated when braking the cabs is converted into electricity and fed back to the power supply system. This lowers energy consumption by more than 30% compared with conventional designs and thus also reduces CO2 emissions. In addition, some of the elevator cabs are fitted with energy-efficient LED lighting. Compared with conventional light bulbs, these lights use up to 90% less energy and last considerably longer.

These innovative capabilities, along with high service quality and closeness to customers make the Elevator Technology Business Area one of the most popular choices for passenger transportation systems worldwide.
