Where are ThyssenKrupp Steel's main locations?

The main location of ThyssenKrupp Steel AG is Duisburg on the Rhine where it operates high-performance steelmaking and hot-rolling facilities. At our other locations such as Dortmund, Bochum, Siegen, Finnentrop and Neuwied in Germany and plants in Italy, France, Poland, Spain, Turkey, China and the USA we have a broad spectrum of specialized processing and coating lines as well as steel service centers. ThyssenKrupp Electrical Steel operates two plants in Gelsenkirchen and Isbergues (northern France). Rasselstein has established the world’s largest tinplate location in Andernach. The Metal Forming unit, which was integrated in fiscal year 2006/2007, manufactures components and assemblies for the automotive industry. Europe is the focus of activities. The first steps outside Europe have also been taken with further plants in Brazil, China and India.

  • The Plant Technology business unit is home to our specialized/large-scale plant engineering activities, focusing on the petrochemical, chemical, cement, mining/material handling and coke production sectors.
    The business unit holds top 3 world market positions in plant engineering for fertilizers, electrolysis, gas technology, coke making, polymer processes, refineries and pharmaceuticals. The aim is to consolidate and expand our core technological capabilities.
  • Marine Systems sees itself as a system house with strong positions in naval shipbuilding, focusing Germany’s capabilities in the construction of conventional submarines and surface vessels (mainly frigates and corvettes). ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems intends to further strengthen its role as worldwide technology leader in these areas. In the field of surface naval vessels, the business unit’s MEKO technology gives it a world leading position in frigates and corvettes; we are also an international market leader in the construction of conventionally powered submarines.
  • The Mechanical Components business unit brings together component manufacturers with world-leading market positions. The range of products includes camshafts and crankshafts, precision forgings and castings as well as large-diameter bearings and rings which are indispensable in solar and wind energy systems, tunnel driving machinery and offshore equipment, industrial robots and magnetic resonance tomography. Rounding off the spectrum of products are undercarriages for earthmoving machinery such as excavators and bulldozers.
  • Automotive Solutions develops innovative solutions to meet the exacting requirements of the automobile industry. Products and services range from steering and damping systems to the entire body technology process chain, innovative systems solutions for chassis applications to assembly equipment for the auto industry. We count among our customers virtually every leading car and truck manufacturer.

Our range includes almost every kind of material. Our largest German subsidiary ThyssenKrupp Schulte alone has 150,000 articles available from stock. We can add value to them by additional processing, which includes slitting, shearing, cutting, sawing, flame cutting, milling, drilling, grinding, preserving and coating. Our customers can order these products in any required quantity from the branch nearest to them, and have them delivered just-in-time if required.
Our range also includes a broad spectrum of industrial services: maintenance and repair, field installation and workshop services, production support and in-plant logistics, scaffold services as well as surface treatment services such as insulation and corrosion protection. We handle planning, installation and operation in all areas of industry. And we offer all these services to customers on a local basis.

ThyssenKrupp Services stands for customer-focused supply and process services. The segment will focus firmly on these and continue to expand, particularly in Eastern Europe, where there has been disproportionate economic growth for some time, with catch-up demand for high-quality materials. In North America, ThyssenKrupp Services will exploit the more favorable economic conditions compared with Europe and develop more business there.
