Europe (excluding Germany)

Western Europe is ThyssenKrupp's most important market, representing sales of €15.2 billion and 29% of the Group's total sales. The complete range of our products and services is produced and supplied throughout the Western European markets. Our various local subsidiaries comprise a workforce of nearly 40,000 employees.

The countries of Central and Eastern Europe are traditionally important sourcing markets and have developed into important sales markets for ThyssenKrupp. Sales have risen to more than €2.6 billion, or 5% of total ThyssenKrupp sales. This region is a particularly important sales market for our Services segment. The business activities of the Elevator and Technologies segments have also increased steadily.

However, Central and Eastern Europe also play a central role as an investment location. All segments are now represented locally by their own companies. Around 5,350 people were employed in this region in fiscal year 2006/07.

All figures relate to to the 2006/2007 fiscal year, Annual Report, as of September 30, 2007.
