Relations between ThyssenKrupp and Hungary go back to 1898 when the first Henschel locomotives were supplied to the country. From the 1960s, trading and technological relationships intensified. For example, in 1971 Polysius built what was at the time the biggest cement plant in Europe. A Thyssen office was opened in Budapest back in 1982.

Today, ThyssenKrupp has a Group Representative Office in Budapest. In addition, ThyssenKrupp has 5 local companies in Hungary. Altogether, ThyssenKrupp has around 570 employees in Hungary. The largest Group company in the country is ThyssenKrupp Ferroglobus Kereskedelmi ZRt.. Based in Budapest, it is Hungary's biggest materials distributor and has 8 branch offices with warehouses and processing facilities in all the main regions of Hungary.
