Representing a sales volume of €2.6 billion in fiscal year 2006/2007 France is the No. 3 foreign market for ThyssenKrupp. This corresponds to almost 5% of total sales and 8% of foreign sales. All segments have their own subsidiaries there.
With almost 2,670 staff, the largest ThyssenKrupp employer in France is ThyssenKrupp Sofedit S.A.S., which is part of the Steel segment. ThyssenKrupp Sofedit manufactures and sells automotive body and chassis products. In addition to other auto industry suppliers, engineering companies are also located here. Elevator's subsidiaries manufacture, sell, install and service a broad range of elevators and other passenger and freight transportation products with about 3,440 employees.
In the materials business we have trading companies, steel service centers and production companies. In total, ThyssenKrupp's subsidiaries and affiliated companies in France employ some 10,600 people.
