Ideas Park

Central to our initiative are popular major events where "Future Technology" can be experienced first-hand. At the forefront is the "Ideas Park", a technology experience aimed in particular at young people, families and school students. More than 260,000 visitors have already taken up our invitation to look behind the scenes of research and development, to experiment and to make discoveries. The first Ideas Park was held in Gelsenkirchen in September 2004, the second at the EXPO exhibition site in Hanover in May 2006. This major event will continue to take place every two to three years in the future at different venues; preparations are underway for the next Ideas Park in Stuttgart in May 2008.

Young visitors at the Ideas Park 2006

Visitors to the Ideas Park learn about new ideas and technical achievements, gain inspiration for their own career choices or are motivated to develop their own new ideas. At the Ideas Park, numerous interactive exhibits provide an entertaining insight into the world of innovation. The special feature of the Ideas Park is the opportunity it offers for intensive dialog with the people behind the technology. Around 500 engineers, researchers, inventors and students are available to chat with visitors and answer their questions. They explain their ideas and demonstrate first-hand how innovations are created. And that's not all: visitors can also become engineers and build robots or mini racing cars from simple resources. Entertaining stage shows, original presentations and many fascinating workshops for all ages round out the program.
