Namibia's first cement plant
Operations at the new Ohorongo Cement plant in Namibia got underway ahead of schedule. ThyssenKrupp Polysius built the 2,100 ton per day cement production line on a turnkey basis from the crusher to the cement loading facility. This impressive view of the plant's kiln line through the roof structure of the blending bed was photographed during the construction phase.
The new plant was inaugurated on February 3, 2011 by the Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking Namibian industry and government representatives. The commissioning of Namibia's only cement plant is a milestone for the African country.
The cement plant – the blending bed is shown here - is now in full operation. The new facility is located near Otavi in northern Namibia. This made major demands on the company's logistics experts during construction.
