The Philippines
The business relations of the ThyssenKrupp Group with the Philippines began at the start of the 20th century. The first main deliveries were materials for light railways, structural shapes and merchant bar, small trucks as well as engines. In the 1930s and 1940s, the company built ships for the Philippines. In the 1950s and 1960s, other fields of business were added: machinery and equipment for oil mills and cement plants and material for mines, plantations and dams.
Since the financial crisis in Asia, the economic environment in the Philippines on the markets relevant to ThyssenKrupp has developed less dynamically. Despite this we do not intend to abandon our activities there but wish to remain present with our Group Office to ensure a partnership with the Philippines based on continuity.
All details relate to to the 2007/2008 fiscal year, Annual Report, as of September 30, 2008.
