ThyssenKrupp has a long history regarding its activities in Egypt. Business relations between the Group and Egypt go back 150 years to 1855. While it was mainly components for railway construction that were supplied in the early years, today, plant construction is a key area of our business with Egypt. Major projects by ThyssenKrupp companies Uhde GmbH and ThyssenKrupp Polysius AG are here to the fore. ThyssenKrupp also played an important role in the construction of the world's largest swing bridge, the El Ferdan Bridge over the Suez Canal.
Today, ThyssenKrupp owns two companies and one minority interest in Egypt. Around 700 people work for ThyssenKrupp in the country.
