Egypt

Egypt has a long history as a partner country for ThyssenKrupp. Business relations between the Group and Egypt go back 150 years to 1855. While it was mainly components for railway construction that were supplied in the early years, plant construction is a key area of our business with Egypt today.

Major projects by ThyssenKrupp companies Uhde GmbH and Polysius AG are to the fore here. ThyssenKrupp also played an important role in the construction of the world's largest swing bridge, the El Ferdan Bridge over the Suez Canal.

Today ThyssenKrupp owns three companies and one minority interest in Egypt. More than 2,000 people work for ThyssenKrupp in the country, most of them for ThyssenKrupp Xervon Egypt SAE, a company which stands for forward-looking, individual services in the chemical, petrochemical, energy and steel industries as well as further sectors of the process industry.

All details relate to the 2008/2009 fiscal year, Annual Report, as of September 30, 2009.
